AMAR SINGH COLLEGE
LIBRARY

ABOUT THE LIBRARY

Central Library of Amar Singh College came into existence with the establishment of the college itself in 1942. Earlier, the library was run from the Heritage building of the college, but later was shifted to its present place of existence having three floors whereby each floor is dedicated to various sections like Text section in ground floor; reference section, browsing section and reading room in first floor. The second floor needs renovation at various places, proposal for which is under consideration with the concerned authorities. Earlier, library was having a rich collection of books (60000 plus) but the floods of 2014 damaged and destroyed a maximum portion of book collection. However, it is worth mentioning that with the efforts of the library staff almost 10000 books were saved that time. At present, library holds the collection of around 30000 books, which include the books purchased from state funds, UGC funds, and books for career counselling. Library is providing various services to its users over the years like Issue-Return (RFID/SOUL/Manual), Reading Room, Browsing Centre, Reprography, Suggestion Box, Book Bank Facility, Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). Library is looking forward to start various services for its users in future like Digital Display Board service, Orientation Programmes for the use of library services, Subscription of research journals, E-resource facility, Book exhibitions, etc.
